Promise Before Provision

Promise Before Provision

A rainbow is a symbol of promise.

Whenever we spot a rainbow in the sky, we know it’s the result of rain meeting sunshine, creating a beautiful display of colors. But on the morning I saw this rainbow, I found myself thinking, "Wait, it didn’t even rain!" How could there be a rainbow without rain? About an hour and a half later, the sky began to drizzle. As many people are aware, much of the United States is facing drought conditions. The east and west coasts are battling devastating wildfires due to the ongoing dryness. While we were fortunate to get some rain a few nights ago, we’re still dealing with a water shortage.

In that moment, I felt that seeing the rainbow before the rain was God’s way of reminding me that He hasn’t forgotten. He hasn’t forgotten about the rain, nor has He forgotten the promises He made to you. Your current season may feel dry, but trust that the rain will come in due time. The drizzle was just a glimpse of the heavier rain we were to receive a few nights later. Perhaps this post is the same—a reminder that even though things may seem slow, don't lose hope in the promises you’ve placed before God. They are still coming.

Joel 2:23 NLT says:

Rejoice, you people of Jerusalem!
Rejoice in the Lord your God!
For the rain he sends demonstrates his faithfulness.
Once more the autumn rains will come,
as well as the rains of spring.

Continue to seek Him, trust Him and encourage yourself in the Lord.  When the time is right, He will cause things to happen and the autumn rains will come as well as the rains of spring.  God bless you.
